About Michael Schütze
Pianist Michael Schütze holds an honorary professorship from the Carl-Maria von Weber Conservatory in Dresden, Germany, where he teaches piano and vocal accompaniment. He has appeared in concert with renowned German artists such as Olaf Bår, Rene Kollo, and singers of the younger German generation, has performed at the Central European Festival, and has accompanied singers from Dresden’s acclaimed opera house (Semperoper) at Novaya Opera in Moscow. Michael has also prepared and accompanied singers for many master classes by major artists such as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Rene Kollo, Edith Mathis, and Andreas Scholl. An invitation from the National Polish Singing Competition was only the first of many invitations to serve as official accompanist at renowned competitions such as the “Robert Schumann” competition in Germany and the “La Voce” and “Competizione dell’opera” competitions in Italy. Michael has played in concerts throughout Europe; several of these were recorded and broadcast on Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk and Radio Brandenburg. He has also performed as a soloist with several orchestras in Germany. In the United States, Michael was a Fellow in Piano and Vocal Accompanying for two seasons at the Tanglewood Music Center, and since then he has been a regular guest artist and master class teacher at the University of Delaware, the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and California State University, Fullerton.
